Welcome! The goal of TheTransPanamaTrail.com is to inspire interest and increase access to outdoor recreation in Panama.
The mission of the TheTransPanamaTrail.com project is to raise awareness of the TransPanama Trail by documenting a through hike. The documentation is intended to be an organized resource with useful information about the trail, points of interest and potential encounters along the way for future hikers.
The TransPanama Trail is a long distance hiking route (approximately 700 mile-long) that traverses Panama from the border with Colombia to the border of Costa Rica, connecting a network of existing trails and rural roads.
On June 14, 2017 David Byers and Sean Beyard reached the Columbia/Panama border and began their investigative through hike reaching Costa Rica on September 14. In the next several months you can expect a formal report of the investigation and a preview of a TransPanama Trail guide book.
Meanwhile please feel free to took a look at the route and enjoy all of the photos and videos from the through hike. For more information contact David Byers at David84b@gmail.com
